Orange Sale

On 15th and 16th of March, Terre des hommes (Tdh) is organising for the 51th time its traditional sale of oranges, when more than 1’500 volunteers ensured the smooth operation of the largest Swiss street sale for a humanitarian benefit.

Do not hesitate to join our volunteers the upcoming Friday and Saturday all over Switzerland from 9am til 5pm!

Kindly take one minute to have a look at our action:

In Lausanne, Place de la Palud, come and experiment a unique sale of oranges with the association ARERIRORU.

This year and for the first time, the finalists of the swiss german show “Grössten Schweizer Talenten” Drums2Streets will support Terre des hommes in Zürich and Bern main stations on Saturday 16th of March. Don’t miss them!

The sale of oranges and its impact

The orange, a fruit full of sunshine and a synonym for health, is the vitamin-full symbol chosen by Tdh for the past 50 years! In the street sales, passers-by give a minimum of CHF 3.- in exchange for an orange, the first step towards a child’s healing.

These commitments are the measure of Tdh’s impact. 700’000 children and mothers benefit from health projects run in sixteen countries:

The results are tangible and at all levels:

  • With CHF 9.- we can fill two tanks with drinking water in the Occupied Palestinian Territories
  • With CHF 15.- we can give five medical consultations in Senegal
  • With CHF 30.- we can save the life of a child suffering from acute malnutrition who needs about two weeks in hospital in Guinea

Origin of the oranges

frupale.JPG

Our oranges, supplied by COOP, are produced in the Valencia region of Spain by Frupale, according to strict standards of respect for the environment and guaranteeing a responsible approach to the health and safety of the workpeople.

Firms with solidarity

Companies showing increased interest in our work offered oranges to their employees or customers. In 2012, more than 1000 firms bought boxes of oranges.
