To aid stricken families: a new Tdh delegation in Pakistan

Terre des hommes – child relief (Tdh), is increasing its work in Pakistan. “We are thus consolidating our sustainable aid to the families who survived the floods last year”, confirms Yann Colliou, in charge of the Middle East department at Tdh’s Head Office in Lausanne.
The leading Swiss organisation for child relief and its local partners work with around 20,500 children and their families in the Peshawar region and in the north-west province of Khyber Pakhtunkwha, involving some fifty co-workers. In the districts of Charsadda and Nowshehra, people affected by the heavy flooding can now benefit from nine health centres, six complexes for the protection of children as well as supplying them with the means of going back to school. In the town of Peshawar, close to the Afghan frontier, hundreds of children who work on the streets receive training and support to help them and their families become independent. Following the strong earthquake in October 2005, Terre des hommes brought humanitarian aid to 50,000 Pakistani men and women.
