Mother and child healthcare and nutrition

In the Podor district, Tdh is working towards improving the health and nutrition of children under five years of age. Tdh is also promoting access to healthcare services for pregnant women and organising sessions to stress the importance of exclusively breastfeeding infants up to the age of six months.

Special medical care

Tdh is taking care of children with serious illnesses (such as heart disease) either locally or abroad. Tdh is also providing financial support to the paediatric and orthopaedic units at Thiès Hospital.

Support for children in Koranic schools

In the Guédiawaye region, Tdh is collaborating with the authorities and other local stakeholders to provide support for young boys placed in Koranic schools. Under the threat of severe punishment, they are forced to spend the whole day begging to earn money for their religious teacher. Tdh offers the children a new perspective with healthcare, psychosocial activities, an education or vocational training.
