Bangladesh: from misery to beauty, from Kaiser to continuity

Tokyo. Tokyo the electric. The insular. The impenetrable. And the feeling of being safe. Everywhere. All the time. The feeling too of being a foreigner. Everywhere. All the time. I take a look through the only guide to Bangladesh I could find in the Ginza neighborhood. Living already in the extreme, I read on page 17: “the history of Bangladesh has been one of extremes: turmoil and peace, prosperity and destitution.” I prepare myself for a journey towards an unknown extreme.
