Burkina Faso: Schools in refugee camps

The first registration activities in the camps of ferrerio (sahelian border), Louta, Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioullasso have started this month, together with psychosocial activities aiming at strenghenting childrens’s coping mechanismes. Those actions will be facilitated by the establishement, by the end of July, of 6 “child friendly spaces” within the camps. The facilitation will be ensured by a mixt team of profesionnal and refugee’s volunteers.
Meanwhile, Tdh in partnership with the Government of Burkina, UN’s refugee agency and UNICEF, prepares the coming school year for the refugees thanks to the setting up in August of summer classes and the opening in October of provisory schools in the camps. The overall goal is to protect 5000 children from exploitation, abuses and recruitements risks to which their extrem vulnerable situation, at the border of a war zone, explose them. It is also about ensuring their human rights to education by joigning schools to start or resume their studies.
