Guinea: Children injured by bullets during post-election protests

10 Dec 2010 Humanitarian crisesGuinea

guinee.jpg Following the violence that took place after the last election in Guinea, Tdh helped 12 children severely injured during the protests. Aged from 1 to 18, all were shot in some part of their body: abdomen, foot, jaw.

These children are still being treated in the hospitals of Donka and Ignace Deen. Two of the children are now in need of psychological care and will first be followed up by Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland and then by Sabou Guinea, Tdh’s partner in Guinea. Tdh will also support one of them who has had his leg amputated, to make sure he receives a suitable artificial limb and rehabilitation. Material assistance was provided to families so they could ensure their food and transportation.
