"In Vietnam, what did we learn?"
- Published by Darcissac, Marion
“In Vietnam, what did we learn?” This is the question that Terre des hommes pondered about during its last year of presence in Vietnam in 2010. With a valuable experience of nearly 20 years working with local organisations for a better social and professional integration of children and adolescents in street situation, there was certainly a lot to learn from it.
To answer the question, two colleagues from Tdh Headquarters supported by a local consultant set off to meet the Vietnamese local organisations and Tdh team for a capitalisation exercise.
To capitalise, in the field of social work, is to look back upon the common experience in order to identify, together, good practices that have been elaborated over time and to feed institutional development.
All the participants were able to openly exchange with the others and express their views on topics such as working in partnerships and the sustainability of the action after the withdrawal of Tdh. The fruits of these exchanges have now been published and we are happy to share with you this document.
We would like to share with you the latest news from Vietnam. Most projects supported by Tdh continue to help children and youth in need. For example, 3 partners decided to create a network to successfully apply for funding to the European Union. Another partner is currently receiving support from a catholic solidarity network. And now for a little story, some news of a young we care about. The young Chau, who came alone from a village in Vietnamese mountains to the city when he was a child, dreamed of becoming an actor. Today, after many years of Tdh support, he passed the entrance examination at the Vietnamese School of Arts.
