Mozambique: "Together we are stronger"

4 Jan 2011 VariousMozambique

infocentreCACIMG_1284.jpg Children from the Casa amiga das Crianças, a centre for reception and psychosocial activities, put on a Christmas spectacle for local children and four other associations: dancing, short plays, juggling, acrobatics and a fashion parade to show the clothes they had designed and made, held the 130 invited guests spellbound.

“Together we are stronger and can do things we would have thought impossible!” is the key message these kids put into their New Year wishes. Their performances were a proof of their involvement with the community and of solidarity between their members. They also profited from the occasion to ask their parents and friends to invest in the life of the community by becoming intermediary counsellors to the district, community leaders or partners in Tdh activities.

The acrobats and dancers demonstrated how a group enables the realisation of something wonderful. The apprentice dressmakers, singers and jugglers, proudly showed what they had learnt and created. The theatre groups performed playlets on the theme of the violence that children can be subjected to and ways to avoid it, or of knowing how to react in the most effective way possible when faced with any sort of abuse.
