Sale of oranges
2 Mar 2009 Health and nutrition, Specialised careSwitzerlandFor the 47th time, hundreds of Terre des hommes volunteers, including many well-known people, will be giving their time to sell 300,000 oranges to companies and on the streets in more than 400 locations in 18 Swiss cantons. Last year over CHF 500,000 was collected and made it possible for Terre des hommes to guarantee the right to mother/child health care to many hundred thousand mothers and children. The sale of oranges also enables specialised medical treatment to be given to severely-ill children at the university hospitals of Lausanne and Geneva and ensures their convalescence in the Maison of Terre des hommes in Massongex. In 2008, 169 children from Africa and the Near East were given treatment in Switzerland
