Switzerland - A striking guerilla action
16 Nov 2009 Lack of family supportSwitzerlandThe new Tdh campaign has caused some buzz and will go on doing so. Thursday the 12th of November, in the evening, in Berne, Lausanne and Zurich, Tdh members gathered in the streets in order to illuminate some sixty private and public monuments. And when the slogan “Invest in a child” appears on a bank or a church’s front, it takes all its meaning. In Berne, according to Andreas Herbst, team leader: “The people were not chocked anymore but wanted to talk about it, we had more than 100 contacts”. The Zurich team leader, Evelyne Hug, tells us: “This guerilla was a first for Tdh and it was a success: innovative and courageous. We dared something and managed well, we did not once receive a bad comment. One of our team however got almost arrested when it illuminated a bank! But the security staff well understood our message’s purpose. We can do such actions but they must not last too long”.
In Lausanne, unfortunately, the weather was not welcoming: “Despite awful weather conditions, the two teams went to all the places planed. They even met at the train station and showed their film together. Even if we did not have as many contacts as we wished because of the rain, this operation was a success. It also enabled Tdh members to reinforce their bonds since they usually gather to sell things and not for such militant actions” said Zaïra Govoni, from the Lausanne team. Since its beginning, the Tdh campaign received many reactions, some chocked, touched, interested or simply wondering. Today, this “punch” action has brought back Tdh in front of the public eye as a militant organization, proud to defend children rights all over the world thanks to its audience.
