Terre des hommes and volunteer work
Throughout Switzerland, Terre des hommes relies on a sizeable foundation of volunteer work. More than 2'500 people are committed to respecting child rights, and are thus agents for a better world.
These 2'500 volunteers are structured in a network of over 50 Working Groups (WG) or sections, are active all over Switzerland and are so in close contact with the general public. Simply click on the map to find the Working Group in your neighborhood.

Each of the Working Groups can initiate their own local activities to support the cause, or can participate at the same time as other groups in nation-wide activities proposed and coordinated by the Headquarters of Terre des hommes. In one way or another, our volunteers contribute a full third of the financial resources of the organization and support our programs all over the world in a most practical manner. There's something happening every day at Terre des hommes!
Where and when can I find Terre des hommes in German-speaking part or French-speaking part in Switzerland?
Terre des hommes offers its volunteers activities which make good sense, giving them a chance to expand their capabilities and their contacts. Activities are done for free, but any expenses are paid. Volunteers can also get an attestation of their involvement. In return, Terre des hommes expects of its volunteers a conscientious commitment, a sense of responsibility and loyalty, and their full approval of our Policy of Child Protection.
Support for Terre des hommes can take various forms:
• Organizing local or regional events, helping at sales stands, etc.
• Helping out in one of the Terre des hommes shops
• Administrative help in a Working Group (bookkeeping, secretarial, etc.)
• Liaison with the media or Public Relations in your region
• Initiatives to raise funds or find sponsoring
• As ambassador for Terre des hommes in schools (organizing events on the theme Child Rights) or beside other networks (child rights and protection) in your region
• Accompanying children at La Maison in Massongex during their stay in Switzerland for specialized treatment.
• Translations: We are looking for skilled translators (French-German / German-French/ French-German || If you are interested by this work, please get in touch trouth: translation@tdh.ch).
Terre des hommes does not offer its volunteers the possibility of work in one of our world-wide projects, where we operate almost exclusively with local personnel. For volunteer missions abroad, we recommend you to contact CINFO.
