Specialised care programme - Annual Report 2014
Developing on-site treatment
Each year, surgical missions with Swiss specialists are organised in collaboration with the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV).
In addition to the numerous surgeries and consultations, these missions are important for the transfer of knowledge: training in new technologies, seminars and conferences and meetings with public health officials. These achievements help improve the quality of treatments provided on-site. Tdh is therefore developing the possibilities for treatment of the children in the region, rather than transfers to Europe.
Last year, 300 children were able to benefit from specialised medical treatment on-site, thanks to the two missions to Benin. The missions to Senegal could not take place during 2014 due to the Ebola epidemic.
