Basic necessities and shelter

Terre des hommes endeavours to meet the primary needs of children, families and communities affected by conflict or natural disasters. We deliver emergency aid in the form of basic necessities and shelter to families and children. They are the main victims of these situations.

Our humanitarian crisis projects

Essential equipment

Terre des hommes distributes basic necessities to children and families affected by conflict or natural disasters and works with the local authorities to support existing structures. Depending on requirements, we distribute tarpaulins, hygiene kits or winter kits containing blankets, kerosene, heaters and mattresses.

Providing shelter

In emergency situations, families often have to leave their homes because of fighting or because they have been destroyed by a natural disaster. Our teams of experts set up shelters so that children and their parents have a safe place to sleep and rest.

Steve Ringel forms part of a team of experts based in South Sudan. Their role is to prevent armed forces from recruiting children. “At Terre des hommes, humanitarian aid means being present where no one else wants to get involved.”
