New inheritance law: greater freedom.
On January 1, 2023, changes to the inheritance law will come into effect in Switzerland. The aim of this reform is to give the testator greater freedom in disposing of his or her estate, in particular by reducing the compulsory part for descendants (children) and abolishing the compulsory part for ancestors (parents). This makes it possible, for example, to benefit more extensively a charitable organization such as the Terre des hommes Foundation in Lausanne. With these new legal provisions coming into force, it is important to reconsider your estate or amend your existing will.
