World Food Day - Fighting together against malnutrition
On the occasion of the World Food Day on 16 October, we would like to draw attention to the situation of millions of malnourished children worldwide. For this reason, we are organising a campaign together with restaurants and our volunteer groups in Switzerland.
Although enough food is produced to feed the world’s population, according to WHO, 462 million people suffer from malnutrition, including 52 million children under the age of five. This is caused not only by climate and economic factors, but is also exacerbated by a rise in conflict and violence.
Every year, on October 16th, many restaurants throughout Switzerland support malnourished children by donating part of their income to our nutrition projects.
Many volunteer groups are also selling rice on the street. All donations from the restaurant and rice campaign flow into our nutrition projects, for example in Bangladesh or India.
