Role Model Award: Terre des hommes receives an award for sports projects

The 4th edition of the Role Model awards in Liechtenstein organised by the Football is More Foundation has celebrated on Monday Terre des hommes' (Tdh) commitment to sport-based psychosocial assistance for children in crisis situations in the category 'NGO Social Commitment'.

“Receiving this award from Football is More is a huge honour for us. This prize provides us with the motivation to pursue our commitment for children's sports projects – not only to continue doing what we're doing, but to go above and beyond it,” explains the General Director of Tdh, Vito Angelillo.

Since 2004 Tdh has focussed on sport-based psychosocial assistance. Doing sport with others makes children more resilient and teaches them, their families and their communities teamwork, fair play and leadership qualities. A fantastic example is Egypt, which has accepted over 190,000 refugees, almost half of whom are children. Daily sports activities and tournaments in our child-friendly spaces strengthen ties between refugees and the local population. Sport also has the advantage of lowering the stress migration causes.
